Let's put Your Company Story to Words
Let's write your company story. It's a great exercise for a number of reasons.
-
It gives your company more meaning to employees, customers and other stakeholders.
-
It communicates your strategic vision to employees, customers and other stakeholders.
-
It communicates your corporate values to employees, customers and other stakeholders.
-
It makes corporate presentations much more interesting. People prefer to listen to a good story than a bunch of financial figures and corporate bullet points.
-
And more.
How it works
In order to put your company story to words, I need to understand your company. I do this by doing a bit of research and talking with you. Ideally, I visit your business and get a tour of your operations. It may be useful to talk to others in your company and even customers.
With this information I propose a draft story or two for your review. Based on your feedback, I edit the text and, viola, you have a company story along with recommendations on how to use it in marketing, communications, innovation and adherence to company values.
Optional Workshop
In order to get more value out of your company story, I suggest a half day or full day workshop in which I present the story and facilitate exercises to define ways to communicate the story as well as incorporate it aspects of your business, particularly innovation and communications − my areas of expertise.
One more thing
Your story will be no novel! It should be short, focused and make its point. It should be easy to memorise in concept, if not word for word, and it should never, ever bore people.
